Student Success Story – Alexandra Dixon

By

Alexandra is the daughter of Major Joan Dixon who passed away from a service

connected illness in 2004. When asked what her mom’s military service

means to her, Alexandra says, “I have always wanted to join the military –

partially due to my own desire to serve, but partially due to my parents’

commitment and love for their country. I am inspired by their dedication to

healing those who serve our country both in body and mind. Their service in the

military provides a standard for me to follow – of strength, honor, and sacrifice –

and I am eternally grateful for that.”

With the help of Fallen Patriots, Alexandra is attending Grand Canyon University

and is studying Biology. Alexandra is part of the Honors College and is the

President of the Healthcare Occupation Students of America, a Professional

Photographer, a Teaching Assistant for Anatomy and Physiology, and is

involved with a scientific research group on campus. Alexandra hopes to

become an Anesthesiologist for the Air Force.

When asked how receiving a scholarship from Fallen Patriots has impacted her

college journey, Alexandra says, “Fallen Patriots have graciously provided the

means for me to attend college and remain debt-free throughout, allowing me

to dedicate all my time towards school and my goals rather than thinking about

finances. Because of this blessing, I have been able to form an amazing

community with so many incredible opportunities that have helped me grow as

a student, leader, and future medical professional.”

There are approximately 25,000 children who have lost an active-duty parent in the military over the last 35 years. The vision of Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation is to ensure that every such child receives all necessary college funding.
